The illustration of the endless circle of life and death is a favoured theme of the Aguilar brothers. While his brother is going wild mostly on very heavy and opulent pieces, Jose gets the devil in the details which he can arrange on a small piece like one one else.

The very neat designed base captivates by fine structure, the authetic wood optic and the tender blossom bouquett. The eyes of the alive half of the sculpture seem to look at you and due to the use of a special varnish they get a extraordinary brightness. The plumage is elaborated so lively that you almost want to pet it. The skeleton part comes in the familiar Aguilar style and thrilles by the skull which is full of character and mimic. A sweet masterpiece, perfect until the claws.
