Guadalupe Shrine Deluxe

This medium-sized Virgen de Guadalupe shrine is nicely decorated and has a whole lot of fine details. The silhouette of the Virgin of Guadalupe and the surrounding halo are covered with a subtle line of gold glitter, while the pink sequins make a nice and cheesy contrast to the light blue background. Rich decoration and fabric roses at the feet of the Virgin complete this magnificent example of religious Mexican folk art. At the backside, there is a small hook for easy wall mounting. 

In Mexico, the small shrines are called Nichos and are a classic decorative element on the Day of the Dead altar. Nichos with themes like our Lady of Guadalupe or other religious motifs, mostly stay decorated throughout the entire year as a steady house shrine installation. Initially, Nichos were a traditional adaptation of the elaborate Retablo art of the Roman Catholic Church.

We buy our shrines directly from a family clan in Mexico City who invented this kind of folk art generations ago and who maintain a widespread network of manufactories. It's a matter of course for us, that we offer this particular speciality in exquisite quality only, as all of them have been hand-picked from limited productions while the majority of our Nichos has even been customized for us.
