Papel Picado Muertos Midi

The 12 panels of this Papel Picado garland, featuring skeletons in various poses and a variety of Mexican skulls, measure approximately 33 x 22 cm -about half the size of the panels in our standard garlands- making them ideal for decorating rooms that aren’t quite as high. Above all, they are perfect for creating a Dia de Muertos ofrenda. Here, on the Day of the Dead altar, the Papel Picado Midi garland looks wonderful as a continuous table border and also serves as a stylish decoration for stairs if you’re planning a multi-level Day of the Dead altar. This Papel Picado garland features many different designs and, like all our garlands, is 5 meters long. 

We source our Papel Picado garlands from a family-run business in a small town south of Mexico City, which has been crafting traditional Mexican decorations for three generations. The base material for Papel Picado is wafer-thin tissue paper in various colors. This is worked by hand in stacks of 50 to 100 sheets using a hammer and chisel, and then glued onto a string. With its handmade charm, Papel Picado stands out strikingly from conventional Dia de los Muertos decorations and gives your celebration that extra special touch—give it a try!
