Angelito Crucifix

There is hardly any item in our collection that better captures the fusion -central to Dia de Muertos- of the ancient Mexican cultures’ cult of the dead with Catholic symbolism.

At the heart of this wonderfully quirky Day of the Dead home accessory is a strange looking angel with a glittery dress and golden wings. The red glitter and the golden halo above the figure have been permanently affixed. The angel is not mounted separately but is part of the cross’s mold. Four magnificent skulls crown this fine example of eccentric Dia de los Muertos folk art. On the top there is a tab firmly embedded in the body for secure wall mounting.
