Mariachi Set

When asked about our personal favorite musicians from our selection of figures, we would always give a very clear answer - this set of 3 mariachis made of papier-mâché is in a league of its own. 

Working with papier-mâché has a long tradition in Mexico. Paper fibers, water and paste are processed into a viscous paste that can then be sculpted with great verve. Our papier-mâché figures come from a small family business in Mexico City, where they are made by hand to the highest standard using the combined experience of three generations. The exquisite collector's items are given their dignified charm by extremely smart skulls in perfection and a finish with glossy varnish, which preserves the elaborate hand-painting and also provides a subtle patina. The mariachis have been very skillfully mounted on a small, approx. 4x4 cm wooden base to ensure they stand securely.

The dimensions above refer to the lined-up set of three figures. The Mariachis are approx. 13 cm high, between 6 and 8 cm wide depending on the instrument and can also be purchased individually in our Skeleton Folk Art department.
