Mezcal is generally not sipped from narrow shot glasses, but rather from vessels with a relatively wide opening, which allows enough air to reach the surface of the agave spirit so that the aromas can fully develop. These classic Ceramic Mezcal cups -which, in our opinion, also have a very minimalist, modern vibe- are super authentic drinking vessels from the dusty little town of Atzompa near the mezcal paradise of Oaxaca, which is famous far beyond the country’s borders for its hand-crafted household ceramics, perfected over many generations.
While the exterior of the copita is left raw, exuding a earthy, smoky patina alongside a generous dose of handmade charm, the bowls are glazed on the inside - after all, we want you to use them for a long time. On the Day of the Dead altar, the copita adds an absolutely authentic flair and can be incorporated in many ways. Whether for tasting the spirit mentioned above, as a tasteful little salt bowl, or even combined with one of our cempasuchil marigolds—the result is guaranteed to be quintessentially Mexican.
Please note that this product may vary slightly from the images shown - each Copita is a unique piece. As always, you’ll receive quality items personally hand-selected by us from a small workshop in southern Mexico.
