It could hardly be more classic! A round, 1 cm high base forms the basis for this small clay sculpture arrangement of a nopal cactus and a skeleton in typical costume. The magnificent cactus consists of seven individual leaves, which are connected to each other by fired wires and can be carefully aligned if necessary. The red flowers as well as the skulls and the owl have also been embedded as individual elements with wire. The entire construction consists of 14 individual pieces of fired clay, which have been carefully joined together and then decorated with fine brushstrokes. Our main character was molded from a single piece, the mischievous skull crowned with a papier-mâché sombrero.
The smallest version of our Day of the Dead collectible figurines is usually characterized by a slightly imperfect, folkloric charm. Our Siesta Calavera arrangement is a very fine example of Mexican folk art on the cusp of museum quality - a fantastic piece of work and a sweet gem for your home altar for the Day of the Dead or your well-kept collection of Mexican devotional objects.
