La Catrina Shrine

The classic La Catrina motif in the center of this top-class wall shrine was skilfully applied using a spray stencil, extensively decorated with glitter and then sealed with clear varnish. Fabric roses in pink and light blue combine with a delicate string of plastic pearls and other decorative elements to create subtle accents in the interior of the shrine. The upper decorative panel on the front of the La Catrina shrine is adorned with Tzopelli's typical rich ornamentation made of boldly glued glitter, while the lower front panel is adorned with a small tin heart on abrasion-resistant glued purple glitter, accompanied by two artfully decorated beer mats and paper roses. The back of the exquisite decoration features a metal tab for secure wall mounting. 

Mujeres Juntas - Solo Difuntas is a variation on the age-old Mexican saying "Mujeres Juntas ni difuntas", which translates as "Women together, not even in death". The saying is an allusion to the fact that Mexican women find it difficult to spend time together because conflicts easily arise that would continue even in cemeteries where women rest in neighboring graves. Tzopelli leaves out the last part, swapping the traditional ni difuntas for a tongue-in-cheek solo difuntas and having the women stick together at least, or more precisely, ONLY in death.
