The Aguilar sisters have a long tradition of depicting Frida Kahlo in the form of clay sculptures. In her version of this famous Frida motif, Concepción Aguilar has worked out the details of the face and hands as well as the plumage of the four parrots in great detail, while keeping the rest of the robust sculpture rather down-to-earth and sober. The figure, which weighs just over a kilo, was made in one piece, is hollow on the inside and stands stably on the hem of the brown dress. The four parrots and the cigarette are firmly embedded in the body with wire and, in our opinion, form a great contrast to the brown tones and the white blouse, which has been decorated with a delicate pattern in the same color as the skirt.
