Guadalupe Holy Water Basin

This wall decoration is an awesome piece of religious kitsch and has a small basin at the bottom, acting as a holy water font. The Virgin of Guadalupe has been carved out with great detail, which gives the entire piece a nice depth. As the object has a decent size, it holds place for a whole lotta details, like the fine facial characteristics, the praying hands and the perfectly formed roses in the lower area.

The basin is made of synthetic resin and was lovingly decorated by hand with golden varnish and a little bit of glitter here and there, by two elderly ladies in Mexico City. In particular the overall restrained colour scheme with ist classy earthy and washed-out tones make this piece special, as mexican decorations are usually more popping when it comes down to colour. The cautiously applied golden effects on the edges give this home accessory a very elegant touch.

On the backside, a little hook has been screwed on for easy wall mounting.
