Guadalupe Art Print
Art print made from handmade Amate paper with Virgen de Guadalupe motif glued onto cotton, available in two different sizes
Papel Amate has held a special place in our hearts for many years. In a world dominated by standardized mass production, the handmade paper of the Otomi tribe from central Mexico adds a touch of authenticity and pleases the eye with its earthy vintage charm. The enchanting thing about this wonderful natural product is that it is still made in exactly the same way as it was hundreds of years ago. The bark of the mori tree is first boiled, then the fibers are skimmed off, carefully torn by hand, and then smoothed on a wooden board with a stone until the surface is matted. After the Amate paper has dried under the Mexican sun, it is then carefully refined with classic Mexican vintage prints in a small workshop. In the final step, the edges are lightly singed and the paper for these magnificent art prints is glued onto natural cotton, which allows for both visually and technically perfect framing. You will receive the print on a representative background made of sturdy white cardboard, packaged in plastic foil – a super authentic gift idea for Mexico lovers and, on top of that, a fine example of the centuries-old craftsmanship of handmade paper.
The prints are available in two different sizes—the smaller model is slightly larger than A5 format, while the large print is approximately A3 and is the showpiece of our Papel Amate collection.
