Our Papel Picado Classic is a true all-rounder that doesn’t feature any Mexican skulls, making it the perfect Mexican decoration for birthdays, Mexican weddings, and, of course, picnics and garden parties. The 5-meter-long Papel Picado garland features 10 different designs in just as many colors. The Papel Picado motifs include a donkey, a sun, various birds, butterflies, cacti, and various designs featuring Mexican pottery, all entwined with floral ornamentation.
We source our Papel Picado garlands from a family-run business in a small town south of Mexico City, which has been crafting traditional Mexican decorations for three generations. The base material for Papel Picado is wafer-thin tissue paper in various colors. This is punched out by hand in stacks of 50 to 100 sheets using a hammer and chisel, and then glued onto a string. With its handmade charm, Papel Picado stands out strikingly from conventional decorations and gives your celebration that extra special touch—give it a try!
