Sensacional Tzopelli

Artist-Dulce-Bere

“Arte Chingón - mi México hecho a mano” - Atelier Tzopelli stands for exuberant Mexican widescreen kitsch in pop art format. The workshop was founded in 1979 by Dulce Ortega, daughter of the sign painter Francisco Ortega. For more than four decades, Tzopelli has combined classic Mexican folklore and the icons of her homeland with gaudy pop art in her colorful, hand-painted home accessories and has set countless trends in contemporary Mexican folk art with her label as a courageous pioneer of this genre. For some years now, she has been managing the workshop together with her daughter Berenice, who grew up with a paintbrush in her hand and is now slowly being prepared to lead the small family business into the future in her mother's footsteps. What particularly inspires us about Sensacional Tzopelli, apart from the huge hearts of the two lovely power women and the passion and uncompromising quality standards with which the workshop is run, is the fact that the collections are constantly being modified. The Tzopelli catalog is a project of constant innovation, which is why all the items offered here are strictly limited editions, some of which are tailor-made for us. The respective editions are noted on the back of each Tzopelli piece by the hands of the meticulous boss herself during the final inspection. Dulce and Berenice Ortega live in Puebla, where they run their small workshop with great social responsibility and offer a small handful of employees long-term prospects and fair pay in a very informal atmosphere. The main selling point of this small company with a big heart, apart from the essential skills with brush and paint, is any kind of social imbalance. This is the result of the turbulent life of the founder, who, as a single Mexican lion mother, not only raised her two children to be extremely decent and self-confident people, but also successfully fulfilled her big dream of owning her own studio.
