El Catrin Skull

Whether on the interior mirror of the car or as an unusual Christmas tree decoration, as a stylish decorative object on the Dia de Muertos altar or as a year-round utensil for a favorite place of your choice - this perfectly designed papier-mâché skull can be used in a variety of ways. The top of the papier-mâché skull's protruding hat has a wire loop for hanging it up, but the slightly slanted underside also makes it perfect for draping on the Day of the Dead altar - flanked by our flowers of the dead, it looks super authentic and contrasts beautifully with the bright orange of the flowers. 

Working with papier-mâché has a long tradition in Mexico. Paper fibers, water and paste are processed into a viscous paste that can then be sculpted with great verve. Our Mariachi Skull comes from a small family business in Mexico City, where it is handmade to the highest standard using the combined experience of three generations. The exquisite collector's items are given their dignified charm by a glossy lacquer finish, which preserves the elaborate hand-painting and also provides a subtle patina.
