Traditionally, Mezcal is not drunk from narrow shot glasses, but from wide bowls that allow air to reach the surface of the liquid. These carved Jicara bowls are the most rustic jars in Mexico and lift relaxing and enjoying the agave brandy to another level, while the larger version of this bowl follows another purpose and is used as traditional dinnerware. Manufactured from the hard shell of the fruit of the Morro tree, these gems are decorated with elaborate carvings of motifs from flora and fauna. Placed on the Dia de Muertos altar, the Jicara bowl provides an absolutely authentic flair and can be presented in a variety of ways. Whether you use it for tasting the liquor mentioned above, as a cute small fruit bowl or in combination with one of our Cempasuchil flowers, the applications of the carved Jicara bowls are limitless and the result is guaranteed to be primeval Mexican. Please note that this kind of carving is a pre-hispanic craft and no two are the same... like always you will receive hand-picked quality. The bowl comes with a custom made hand-woven ring made of bast for a firm stand. Since this is an all natural product, the dimensions must be taken as approximate values and apply to the pure bowl only. With the base ring, the Jicara is about 1.5 cm higher than specified.
