The butterfly as a symbol of transience and resurrection is a frequently cited theme in Day of the Dead art. José Juan Aguilar has mastered this genre like no other known artist and once again delights us with a magnificent skull and detailed painting.
The proportions of the butterfly are perfect, as is of course the general finish of the piece. The antennae on the skull are made of wire, are bent back slightly by us when packing and can then be aligned as desired after unpacking.
Behind the skull, there is a wire bracket cleverly embedded in the body for wall mounting, which cannot be seen from the front, and the back of one of the wings bears the artist's signature. The dimensions refer to the body only, without feelers.
